The 5 Digital Transformation Trends That Will Shape The World

Engineers design Wi-Fi install.

We get excited every year for the technological breakthroughs that will soon hit our shores. 2020 has been a rollercoaster so far. The COVID-19 pandemic has slowly shaped industries and dictated what they should do moving forward. Here are the top 5 digital trends this 2020.

WiFi 6

Last year, the new version of WiFi made headlines. It promises connection speeds of up to thrice of WiFi 5’s current speed. This offers homes and workplaces better connectivity. Just last April, the FCC voted to open the new spectrum of connection for capable devices. Although there is no concrete proof of its power, many assume that it will be better than the current offering. Some manufacturers have announced that they will be releasing their WiFi 6-capable devices later this year. This gives us a lot to look forward to in 2020.

Analytics

Analytics has been an underrated field for quite some time now. Businesses have been the leading users of this field however, many institutions have begun wielding it. The popular saying goes: Businesses who do not invest in Analytics will go out of business in a few years. This holds true.

The pandemic has proven to us that Analytics is an important component in the current tech landscape. We have seen Analytics in action for businesses. It guides its owners on how to make sound business decisions. Just recently, we have seen the real-time use of Analytics to save businesses and lives.  Analytics have been used in contact tracing and in formulating data-driven decisions.

5G Connection

Ah yes, 5G connection. This goes in the same route as WiFi 6. They both aim to produce a better end-to-end connection in homes and in workplaces. Everyone left their workplaces in favor of their homes, which contributes to the demand for faster connectivity. Over the course of the pandemic, many companies have invested in 5G technology.

According to a Qualcomm announcement, many companies have sped up their 5G integrations in their services. There are currently 380 operators heavily-investing in 5G while 80 operators across more than 35 countries have begun offering 5G services.

Artificial Intelligence

Obtaining massive data without making sense of it is useless. Thus, many have turned their attention to Artificial Intelligence to guide them in interpreting the data obtained. Wielding AI technology allowed businesses to gain insights from the data they have collected from people. Hardware manufacturers have began implementing better learning and training from data in their chips.

Many businesses have also employed AI in their customer service sections. When you visit an online business, many of them welcome you with an AI assistant that’s ready to answer your inquiries. Conversational AI will expand even wider in the following months. This will come after businesses realize that they do not have enough manpower to deliver updates and requests from customers.

Connected Technologies

Lastly, we believe that we are inching closer to smart cities. Earlier this year, we caught a glimpse of data collection through modern technology. Companies like Google and Apple have begun placing API in their applications to aid governments in contact tracing.

We could see a very specific use for this technology right now, but tweaking it by a little may turn it into a vital component of smart cities.

We just eclipsed the first half of 2020, we could expect more technological enhancements in the following months; especially if the pandemic fails to die down quickly. If you want more tech articles, click here
